, Each season, the best defensemanin the Ontario Hockey League is awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy. Winning the trophy is often a sign that the honoured player will move on to have a successful National Hockey League career. The trophy was first awarded in 1969-70.

The London Knights began play in the OHL in 1965-66 as the London Nationals. They began as a sponsored junior team of the NHL\'s Toronto Maple Leafs. In fact, the Nationals/Knights developed one of Toronto\'s all-time great leaders, Darryl Sittler.

Over the history of the Max Kaminsky Trophy, six London Knights defenseman have been voted as the best in the OHL. All six have gone on to NHL careers of varying lengths. The two latest London Knights to win the Max Kaminsky Trophy are currently playing in the NHL.

In 1975-76, Rick Green became the first London Knight to be recognized as the league\'s best defenseman. Green was a first overall pick of the Washington Capitals and played a lengthy NHL career with the Capitals, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders.

A London Knights duo was next. For the 1977-78 season, two players were considered the league\'s best defensemen. Rob Ramage and Brad Marsh were co-winners of New La Kings Jersey the Kaminsky. Ramage, like Green was a first overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft. Ramage played for a number of teams in the NHL, including the Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Minnesota North Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers. New La Kings Jersey Ramage was a member of two Stanley Cup winning teams over his career.

Brad Marsh played from 1978-79 to 1992-93 in the National Hockey League. Marsh began his career with the Atlanta Flames and moved with the team to Calgary. Brad also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators during his NHL career.

Bob Halkidis won the Kaminsky in 1984-85. Halkidis was originally drafted into the NHL by the Buffalo Sabres. Bob played for the Sabres, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders.

A London Knights defenseman didn\'t win the Max New La Kings Jersey Kaminsky for a decade and a half after Halkidis. John Erskine was the recipient for the 1999-00 season. Erskine was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Stars and New York Islanders before settling in at his current home, Washington.

Danny Syvret is the last London Knight to be voted as the OHL\'s best defenseman. Syvret won the award for the 2004-05 season after helping the Knights become Memorial Cup champions. After toiling in the minors, it looks like Danny may have found a spot on the defense corps of the NHL\'s Philadelphia Flyers.
